El artículo examina la Triple Frontera, un trifinio internacional situado en el cruce de fronteras entre Brasil, Argentina y Paraguay. Los actores internacionales, que tienen allí intereses geoestratégicos, la consideran una “zona gris”, un “territorio fuera de la ley”, cuyas características constantes son las diversas actividades ilícitas. Sin embargo, este punto de vista no puede dar una imagen completa de la diversidad de procesos y fenómenos que afectan a la vida de las personas comunes y a la seguridad de cada uno de los tres países latinoamericanos. El objetivo de lа presente investigación es caracterizar los rasgos básicos y los principales problemas de la región. En la parte final del artículo se destacan las áreas más prometedoras para el desarrollo regional.

Автор статьи анализирует Тройную границу - трехстороннюю пограничную область между Бразилией, Аргентиной и Парагваем. Международные акторы, имеющие там геостратегические интересы, характеризуют ее как «серую зону», «территорию вне закона», неотъемлемыми атрибутами которой выступают различные виды незаконной деятельности. Однако подобное рассмотрение не дает полного представления о разнообразии процессов и явлений, влияющих на жизнь обычных людей и безопасность каждой из трех латиноамериканских стран. Целью настоящего исследования является характеристика отличительных особенностей и ключевых проблем региона. В заключительной части статьи выделяются наиболее перспективные направления регионального развития.

This paper deals with the Triple Frontier - a tri-border area along the junction of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. International actors, that have geostrategic interests here, describe it as a “grey zone”, an “outlaw territory”, whose inherent attributes are various types of illegal activity. However, such perspective does not give a full picture of processes and phenomena that affect the lives of ordinary people and the security of each of the three Latin American countries. The aim of the present study is to characterize the distinctive features and main problems of the region. The final part of the paper highlights the most promising areas for regional development. It is concluded that the Triple Frontier has the potential for legitimate economic activity, which is an objective basis for consolidating the efforts of the three parties in order to solve common problems and ensure co-development.
